MOOS Project Viewer is a Microsoft Projects file viewer. It allows you to open files created with Projects and view them and print them. For a third-party app, I have to say that I am impressed at how well MOOS Project Viewer can display the information contained in Project files. I downloaded a sample file off the Internet to try this application, and, to my surprise, everything seemed in the right place. The sample file displayed several tasks and it kept a track of hour task duration and start dates. The viewer showed me a graphical representation of work distribution through time. There are quite a few views you can choose from. There is the one I mentioned, which showed a graph. But there are more specific views that give more details about work hours, tasks, billing, etc.

When I went to try to print a Project file, I saw that the application could also print to a PDF file, which makes lots of sense. I didn't set any margins or touched anything and I still managed to create a PDF file which was readable and understandable.

Of course, this application can't modify files, hence the name "viewer", but as suggested on the developer's website, it can effectively save your company a lot of money if not every employee needs to edit files. At only $25 for each license, it isn't that expensive either.

The application is also multi-platform, thanks to Java. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
